How the technology works
A picosecond 755nm alexandrite (with optional 532/1064nm delivery) firing ultra-short pulses that create a photomechanical — not photothermal — effect: pigment and ink shattered by pressure rather than cooked by heat, better fragmentation with less collateral thermal injury than nanosecond lasers. 755nm is strongly absorbed by melanin: efficient on brown/black pigment, sunspots, Nevus of Ota, Hori's macules, and stubborn green/blue ink.
With the Focus lens array, the same energy creates laser-induced optical breakdown (LIOB) vacuoles in the epidermis that remodel skin for acne scars, wrinkles, and revitalization with minimal downtime.
Patented technology
PressureWave is Cynosure's trademark for the 755nm picosecond photomechanical delivery; the Focus lens array concentrates energy into micro-zones for revitalization without ablation; the Pro upgrade added higher peak energy and the melasma-pigment clearance Cynosure markets as a world-first.
