Head to head
CoolSculpting Legacy vs truSculpt iD (2026)
The biggest practical difference is cost of entry: CoolSculpting Legacy's new pricing is $100k–$150k, while truSculpt iD's is $100k–$165k. These are different technologies: CoolSculpting Legacy is Cryolipolysis, truSculpt iD is Radiofrequency — monopolar. Both are used for body contouring, so choose on consumable cost per treatment, cleared indications and how many treatments you can realistically book each month.

Consumable economics
Consumable cost / lock-in
- Allergan Aesthetics CoolSculpting (Legacy/Gen 1-2)
- Cycle cards plus applicator liners and gel pads. Not published — Allergan does not publish cycle-card pricing, and the reseller card figures previously shown carried no dated primary source.
- Cutera truSculpt iD
- Not consumable-free. Cutera's 10-K books truSculpt cycle refills as recurring consumable revenue — handpieces must be refilled after a set number of treatments. Cutera does not publish cycle pricing at list; dealer descriptions of roughly $40 per paddle are secondary-market asking prices (single-unit listings, Aug 2026), not OEM pricing. OEM list price not published — get a written quote from the manufacturer before modeling margin.

FDA status & indication
- Allergan Aesthetics CoolSculpting (Legacy/Gen 1-2)
- FDA ClearedDe Novo: DEN090002, K120023, K080118, K090094“The CoolSculpting System is a skin cooling or heating device. The device is indicated for cold-assisted lipolysis of the abdomen, as well as the flank, or "love handles" in individuals with a Body Mass Index (BMI) of 30 or less. The device is intended to affect the appearance of the abdomen and the flank. Cooling with the device may also be used to minimize pain and thermal injury during laser and dermatological treatments and act as a local anesthetic for procedures that induce minor local discomfort. The CoolSculpting System is also indicated for use to provide localized thermal therapy (hot or cold) to minimize pain post-trauma and post-surgery, and for temporary relief of minor aches, pains, and muscle spasms. The optional massage function can also be used for the temporary relief of minor muscle aches, pain, and spasm, for temporary improvement in local circulation and temporary reduction in the appearance of cellulite. The ZELTIQ Gelpad facilitates thermal contact of the device with a patient's skin by mitigating minor variances in device-to-skin contact.”
